Asia and The Middle East: Egypt

The National Training Institute - The NTI's primary objective is to provide state-of-the-art training and continuing education to physicians, nurses and allied health professionals. The NTI uses high-technology training methods, including training labs with simulators, Internet usage, telecommunications, and telemedicine. It also has the technology and capacity to create its own CD resource library, capturing all lectures presented at the Centre for future use. The goal is to fill all levels of training needs, including primary, secondary and tertiary.

Children's Cancer Hospital - Project HOPE is providing technical support and recruitment of key senior staff positions at the facility, which is in its final stages of construction in Cairo and may be opened in early 2007.

Gaucher Initiative - This programme aims to relieve suffering and prevent the untimely death of people affected by Gaucher Disease. Therapy is provided free of charge to patients in critical need of treatment, and also provides advanced medical training to physicians, to increase the number of local physicians who can diagnose and treat this rare disorder.
