The Thoughtful Path COMMUNITY INVESTMENT PARTNERSHIP (CIP) will revolutionise the way orphans and other vulnerable children are nurtured through their early years, giving them strong foundations essential to grow into healthy productive adults.

Studies from around the world show that investment into Early Childhood Development (ECD) has a massive beneficial impact on children and on the entire community. It helps children to be more successful in later school, more competent socially and emotionally, show better intellectual and physical development, and become significantly more productive in adult life, giving greater security and life chances to their children (read more).

Studies by organisations such as The World Bank and UNICEF indicate that professionally delivered Early Childhood Development (ECD) has a dramatic and sustained impact on children. In 2010, The World Bank stated that:

“a vast body of research has demonstrated that ECD programmes benefit children, families and communities. The reduced dropout and repetition rates, improved school achievements, greater adult productivity and higher levels of social and emotional functioning encouraged by ECD programmes makes them a highly cost-effective means of strengthening society as a whole, by ensuring that its individual members live up to their full potentials.”

Their research shows that the benefits of ECD interventions can also be found in the following areas:

Higher intelligence scores
Higher and timelier school enrolment
Improved nutrition and health status
Improved parent (or guardian)-child relationships

EARLY CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT IN MUNSIEVILLE
It is common for pre-school children in Munsieville to attend a crèche for anything up to 10 or even 12 hours a day, often crammed into a tin shack with a dirt floor and no water and sanitation and few, if any, toys, books or play equipment. Worse still, many crèche workers have never received any training and most facilities are unregistered and unsafe (read more).

Based on its own research in Munsieville, and the research of others across the world, Project HOPE UK believes that the best possible investment that can be made to ensure the long-term health and well-being of children and their community should be targeted on a comprehensive programme of ECD. The Thoughtful Path: Munsieville actually goes further than most other ECD programmes by integrating it with other services that support children throughout their lives as they build on the strong foundations created through their ECD experience.

Soon, the first of a number of low-cost, but high-quality “model” ECD centres will be opened to help inspire and train others until every child in the Munsieville has the opportunity to enjoy the life-long benefits of professionally-delivered Early Childhood Development.

But now, working in partnership with Safe and Sound Learning Association, a respected leader in the training of ECD practitioners, and the ECD “hub” of The Thoughtful Path: Munsieville, crèche workers are receiving internationally-recognised ECD qualifications, together with ongoing mentoring to equip them to make radical changes to the pre-school experience of children in their care.

HOW WILL THE COMMUNITY INVESTMENT PARTNERSHIP HELP?
The Thoughtful Path Community Investment Partnership is a scheme through which you can adopt one of the ECD centres in Munsieville for a monthly contribution of £10; you can cancel at any time, but we hope you will stay with the scheme for many years so you can follow the progress of your centre, as children’s lives are transformed.

Your investment will be targeted at the children in one named ECD Centre, helping to provide the following:

To become a Partner, simply complete the CIP Application Form below, or download the brochure and return the form to us by post. We ask for a monthly contribution of £10 per month, per CIP Bond; you can cancel at any time, but we hope you will continue for many years to come. Partners can invest in one or more CIP Bonds.

We will allocate your investment to the support of a specific, named ECD Centre in Munsieville and you will be able to follow progress of the Centre through our website, Facebook and Twitter sites and a quarterly bulletin. You are welcome to visit your sponsored ECD Centre by arrangement at any time. Your funds will be managed with the utmost care and can be tracked through independently-audited annual accounts.
